Bob Dylan Mistaken For a Hobo

by on Jul.30, 2009, under In The News

dylanBob Dylan’s brush with the law was a peaceful one. After all, he is a peaceful man.

He was seen by a resident of Long Branch, New Jersey, July 23rd, ’09, wandering the streets blocks away from the ocean, looking at houses. A call was made to authorities in this most recent “hobo profiling” case. It seems Bob was killing time, “acting suspicious” while taking a walk and looking at homes before his show.

For those who haven’t heard about the incident, Bob was walking around a housing estate and a 24 year old female officer, Kristie Buble, was dispatched to the scene.

“We got a call for a suspicious person,”‘ said Buble. “It was pouring rain outside, and I was right around the corner so I responded. By that time he was walking down the street. I asked him what he was doing in the neighborhood and he said he was looking at a house for sale.” It went like this:

“What is your name, sir?” the officer asked.

“Bob Dylan,” Dylan said.

“OK, what are you doing here?” the officer asked.

“I’m on tour,” the singer replied.

A second male officer in his 20s came to the aid of the first officer and didn’t recognize Bob or his name either. When he couldn’t produce any ID the officers asked him to accompany them back to the Ocean Place Resort and Spa to verify who he was. Once they arrived, the tour staff vouched for Bob.

Just what transits were active that could have influenced this event in Bob’s life?  Let’s go down the line, beginning with the luminaries (Sun and Moon) and then the planets.

The Sun was sextile his natal Jupiter, traditionally looked at as a “lucky day,” by astrologers. It helps to make matters run smoothly, and makes for good interaction with authority figures.

The Moon was square his natal Uranus, at 26 degrees exactly. If there is ever a time when you feel like going against the “establishment” it’s during this transit. Reacting negatively or doing the opposite of what is asked of you is typical. It speaks volumes for Bob, as he at 68 years old is a calm and steady gentleman. Long Branch business administrator Howard Woolley said; “He couldn’t have been any nicer to them,” referring to Bob’s treatment of the officers. This transit took the form of upsetting persons or events arriving in his life, but he handled it well.

Mercury was sextile Venus that day in his chart, lending Bob a desire to enjoy activities that are beautiful and relaxing, like a walk looking at the local beauty during a heavy rain.

Venus was opposite his Ascendant, exactly. This is a peacemaking transit, where you can make agreeable impressions on someone new. It indicates attracting people that are good for you, and a good day for relating to them.

Jupiter was trine his natal Mercury. This transit assisted Bob in seeing things clearly and communicating his point of view. It brought him positive thinking based on a real appraisal of what was happening in the moment.

But what I find the most exciting thing about this incident is the fact that Bob’s Pinnacle Transit is due for arrival. Every 28-30 years when the planet Saturn conjoins the Midheaven, then transits the 10th house in a natal chart, it is called “The Pinnacle” to astrologers. Everything a person has done in all aspects of their outer life, or career, have a grand opportunity to bear fruit during this period.

So, I wonder if this isn’t the beginning of Bob Dylan’s resurgence, with his courteous brush with the law drawing attention to him again? With his new release in April of 2009, Together Through Life, we will see.
